I’m a self-taught freelance photographer originally from Co. Wicklow, Ireland who now lives and works out of Astoria, New York, "where inspiration lies around every corner".
While in Ireland inspiration was also easily found. My hometown of Arklow, which is surrounded by green hills and rolling fields, sits on the estuary of the Avoca River overlooking the Irish Sea. This inspiration can be clearly seen in my early landscape work. Particularly in one of my personal favourite projects, "A Place of Thought" series which was designed with the intention to make the viewer stop, think and use his/her imagination. Since moving to New York, you can see that I have absorbed the city and its surroundings. Subways, architecture and Central Park all feature prominently in my work.
When asked "what is photography to you?" My answer is simply this, "It's all about the moment. It's what you see in a split second that you may never see again. Inspiration is everywhere and can strike anytime. From walking down the street to watching your favorite show. Whatever I'm shooting, be it landscapes or people, I want it to be natural and in that moment."
Recently I held a solo exhibition of 13 works in Astoria, NY and my photos adorn walls around the globe from Los Angeles, Boston, and New York to Dublin and London. I can always be seen with a camera in hand and currently have several projects in the works.
